Hi, I'm Emily.
I started Strike Your Match in 2023 to create a different kind of speed dating experience in Salt Lake City. Because meeting someone in real life shouldn't be this hard.
Dating apps had become the default, but I knew there were people who wanted another way to meet — face-to-face, without weeks of texting, swiping or wondering if someone was actually interested in dating.
So I created the kind of event I would want to attend myself.
And from the beginning, I've been a little obsessive about the details.
The venue. The tables. The spacing. The music. The timing. The parking. The icebreaker questions. How you're welcomed when you arrive. What happens when the dates are over. And making sure everyone hears from me afterward — whether they made a match or not.
For a long time, I thought that was simply what it meant to host a good event.
Turns out, those details are the experience.
I can't promise you'll walk away with a match. Nobody can.
What I can promise is that I'll put thought into creating an evening where you can feel comfortable, have real conversations and hopefully leave glad you decided to show up.
Nearly three years later, that's still what Strike Your Match is about.
