Neurodivergent Speed Friending Night happening Fri, August 8

If you've ever felt like making new friends can be overwhelming, what do you say, what do you talk about? We get it. This is why we're so excited to host our very first Neurodivergent Speed Friending event!

We know that connection is vital, and creating a space tailored to neurodivergent needs can make all the difference. We envision a space where shared experiences and understanding can be the foundation for new friendships, everyone 18+ is welcome.

This event is designed with neurodivergent comfort in mind.

What to expect:

• Structured Conversations: Instead of open-ended "tell me about yourself," we will provide optional conversation starters on cards. This will help you connect with others easier and focus on something to talk about.

• Sensory-Friendly Environment: We will keep the lighting soft, the noise levels manageable, and offer a designated quiet corner for anyone needing a break from the social energy. Fidget toys are welcomed.

• Time Boundaries: Short, timed conversations (around 6 minutes each) will take the pressure off lengthy interactions and allow everyone to connect with multiple people without feeling drained. A gentle bell will signal the rotation to the next potential friend.

• Emphasis on Shared Understanding: The room will be filled with like-minded individuals with an unspoken understanding surrounding the different communication styles and knowing this is just part of how some of us process the world.

This event isn't about finding your "best friend forever" in six minutes, but about planting seeds of connection. We provide ways for people to exchange contact information if they feel a spark, and who knows, maybe future coffee dates and online gaming sessions!
